November 20th, 2016—-Introductory dance classes

The Nanaimo Ballroom Dance Society has launched a new initiative to encourage more people to take up dancing by holding introductory dance classes.  Apart from being good for you by increasing fitness and helping us live longer, dancing is just great fun!

These classes are open to everyone; to those who would like to learn something new, to those who want to start dancing again from scratch or to those who want to dust off the cobwebs after years of not dancing.  Instructors will start slowly with basic footwork and emphasis on hearing and understanding the rhythm of the music for each dance type. Classes will only progress with the comfort level of all the students.

The first two class offerings are in Single Step Jive and Cha Cha. Your instructor for these first classes will be Sara Raymond from Nanaimo. Sara is very good at helping people get started on the best foot (yes, those with 2 left feet will be right at home).  They are scheduled on 4 consecutive Thursday evenings, at Legion 256, 1630 East Wellington Road, Nanaimo.

Registration: all participants need to register in advance but due to the short advance time, everyone can pay at the door. Note: the class size is limited to 30 people.  To register for one or both classes contact: Barb Benson atBarb.Benson@ballroomnanaimo.ca.
