Newcastle Island Dance Camp July 2005
- Talented instructors will present dance workshops on salsa, samba, cha cha, west coast and east coast swing, night club two-step and waltz, and Latin hustle. Ask about private lessons.
- Dances on Friday and Saturday nights in the historic Pavilion
- Camping included in the adjacent group camping area (picnic shelter, washrooms with showers available for use)
- Extra ferry sailing times for return to Nanaimo after dances
Featuring two workshops by the Princess of Salsa, Josie Neglia. This may be your last chance in Nanaimo to learn from one of the world's top Latin instructors -- she is moving back to LA after this event.
Come for a picnic, kayak or swim, and enjoy dancing all weekend at the historic Newcastle Island Pavilion. Built for swing and big band dances in 1931, the Pavilion is absolutely the best place for summer dances. It has a sprung, hard fir floor, and open shutters to let the breeze through for magic dancing moments.
Bring your own tent, camping gear and families to enjoy the group campsite adjacent to the Pavilion, and just relax, enjoy the fantastic scenery, beaches and hiking trails, and dance all weekend.

Note that liquor is prohibited in the park outside the licensed Pavilion area. Dock space if available is free before 6:00 p.m., $2 per meter per night. The ferry to Newcastle Island leaves Maffeo-Sutton Park, Nanaimo, on the hour from 10:00 a.m. daily; it is possible to drive to the ferry dock for loading gear. Recommend park near the bridge/Hwy 1 to avoid Silly Boat Race events on Sunday. More updates will be sent by e-mail in response to questions and as new information becomes available. This is a non-profit event; the organizers may cancel some events due to low registration or add additional events for weekend pass holders in response to high registration.
